Day 37: I'll be back!

Ok so I have some good news and some bad news. You may have noticed a substantial lack of updates lately, and that's because I have a huge range of other very vital commitments, so here's the bad news...I'm going to take a short hiatus. This will be my last post for a few weeks ONLY (30 days to be precise), then I assure you I will be back (and better, hopefully.). They say absence makes the heart grow fonder so I do hope you'll miss me!

This announcement is just to let you know, so that if and should you ever go, "Awwh man Bev, why did you just stop blogging without telling me first!? My life is now sooo incomplete", I can say - in true "Friends" style - "WE WERE ON A BREAK!" Not that forcefully though...

Upon my return we'll be ready to take on the summer in style ;) (and in white shirt style. There's still SO much more to be done...) In the meantime, there's a whole 36 days/outfits of inspiration if you're ever stuck for an outfit and you'll find all of them in the Blog Archive on the right hand side.

And for the good news...Day 37! I was flicking through the latest Look magazine (£1 only, special price!) and came across the colour trends. In particular, "Canary Yellow & White". I've always thought they go well together, but it's nice to see that Marni and 3.1 Phillip Lim think so too! The fantastic thing about it is that it's yet another way to bring out the white shirt - Look magazine approved!

Today I'm wearing:
  • Primark lace-style dress
  • Forever 21 white shirt
  • ^ It's that simple!
I'll see you in ONE MONTH, and I will be back :)

Day 36: Going green...

Guys! I apologise for having gone AWOL on you. In my absence, a dancing dog has won Britain's Got Talent, the sun has actually come out, and I've had the chance to wear the most beautiful dress I've ever worn (you may remember it from the Virgos Lounge post - I'll be posting the outfit over the next few days). Anyway, it's been a very busy past few days and will be a very busy next few weeks! Don't worry, I haven't forgotten y'all.

"Today" I'm wearing:
  • A dungaree-type skirt
  • Vintage white shirt

About that dungaree-type thing; I'm not really sure what it is. I bought it nearly 7 years ago and it's basically a green skirt with braces but it's not really a skirt... I thought it was unusual then, and I still haven't (7 years later) come across anything remotely similar! The moral of the story is, guys, to buy weird clothes. Following the crowd is boring!

The Met Gala: Dress envy!

It's that time of the year, almost bigger than the Oscars in terms of fashion stakes (- that's debatable), when the stars flock out in the nicest dresses you have ever seen. Or so the hype believes anyway.

It's also that time of the year (besides Award season) when I am hit with major wardrobe envy. Now, I know this is completely off-topic to white shirts, but if you think about it dresses and shirts are both fashionable. Therefore... on a fashion blog, I'll deem it perfectly acceptable. Let's begin.

HITS (Clockwise from bottom):

Amy Adams looks like a goddess - can I have her hair please?
Dakota Fanning looks like Cinderella here! There's something very simple but angelic which I like (though I'm not sure it's completely age-appropriate). Kristen Wiig always manages to stand out - she's "dressy" and classy but not too OTT. Plus the length of the dress is cute. Nina Dobrev, that is one long train! It works perfectly with her tan. (If I ever wore it, I would be paranoid 24/7 that someone would stand on the dress!. Doutzen Kroes works the monochrome look beautifully and Emma Roberts is stunning in mustard yellow, a very hard colour to full off. I don't know if it's intentional, but I do wish the front was less creased...

MISSES (L-R):

Kristen Stewart was recently named the Best Dressed Woman in the World (according to Glamour) but I really don't see it here! This would look fine at a premiere, but for the Met Gala? Noway! (From afar it looks like she's done a dress-n-trainer combo too. Chloe Sevigny - that's a weird dress... The Met is usually about elegant gowns, and if opting for the short option, style notes should be taken out of the other Kristen (Wiig)'s book. And Karolina Kurkova would look much better if you could see her hair. It's just my opinion, but I really do not get her outfit.

 NEARLY THERE (L-R):

Lately, Rooney Mara's always seen in gothic-type dresses and this is nice, but I wish it wasn't see through. Or if there was a lighter underskirt to showcase the lace. Camilla Belle is stunning as usual but the V slit doesn't have to be thaaaat deep to show off cleavage! And one of my friends also mentioned that she actually looks plastic here...

My favourites:
I'm a big of Hailee Steinfeld's and I like that she (mostly) dresses her age and looks lovely. This is a really pretty dress and I like the embellished detail. Jessica Alba has everything matched really well - from the dress to the hair colour tone to the make-up to the bag. Top marks for both :)

And finally, what's this on the red carpet?!That's right - IT'S A WHITE SHIRT! Thanks, Alexa Chung.

Day 35: Sporty spice and all things nice

I'm feeling the Olympic vibe as London 2012 is fast approaching! Anyone else feeling excited? In fact, I've seen a whole load of trendy official Olympic gear on play.com which you should check out. I'll certainly be doing a bit of shopping on there!

Today is all about sport. I dug out a jacket I haven't worn in years and years - its a rarity and from my ballgirling days (those people who make the lives of tennis players soo much easier!). Like I said, years and years ago. I also paired it with a pair of trainer heels for a sporty but slightly girly feel.

Today I'm wearing:
  • Fila red jacket for the Artois Championship (now known as AEGON)
  • Tribal pattern dress
  • Vintage white shirt
  • New Look trainer heels
  • Shiny leggings

Oh, and I also wore the leggings inside out but no one seemed to notice!!

Ps. I'll be at a TV show recording tomorrow so I'll be posting my version of "smart casual"!

Day 34: Seeing double

Last week, I was challenged by a friend to "wear 2 white shirts." At first I thought she meant I should have 2 white shirt outfits for one day, but it was actually that I should wear 2 at once. Over one week later, I have accepted that challenge. I won't lie: it's not my favourite trend. I've been greeted by several raised eyebrows and such, but at the end of the day it's just another challenge. If you're ever brave enough to do it, do all the inner shirt's buttons up, and leave the outer one loose like a jacket. And you must must must wear a belt.

Today I'm wearing:
  • Inner shirt: Forever 21 white shirt
  • Outer shirt: Vintage white shirt
  • Belt from TU at Sainsbury's
  • Primark skirt
(Above is the original, 1 shirt look. In the words of that kitchen towel TV advert, 1 shirt does plenty!)

Any more challenges, anyone?

Day 32, Day 33: Let's play catch-up

I apologise for the lack of posts this week - it really has been quite busy but I have worn the white shirt (ask anyone who's seen me); I just didn't have the time to blog and get the photos sorted out.

Day 32 was a furry day - I found a gillet-type thing from my mum's wardrobe so obviously had to incorporate it in some way:
  • Random labelless furry purple gillet-type thing with sequins
  • Marks and Spencers white shirt
  • Black midi skirt from Yumi

Day 33, and it was clothes reversal time. You know how you should usually wear a cardigan over your shirt? I had a go at the other way around. Experimental, YEAH:
  • Hollister cardigan (I don't usually shop here but it was on sale!)
  • Very old jeans
  • Vintage white shirt
Ok now that we're up to date, it's onto today's outfit....!
See you there.
